Community Service

Volunteers of America is a faith-based nonprofit that has been serving the needs of vulnerable Americans for over 100 years. AHMP is providing two opportunities to engage with the local Texas affiliate:

Gardening Project

  • Sunday, August 27
  • 8:30 am

Gardening Project (flowers and vegetables) for a residential re-entry facility that helps clients reintegrate into the community after serving time. There is a special Mothers & INfants Together (MINT) program that enables pregnant women to give birth and have bonding time with their newborn while concurrently serving their sentence.

Graduation Packets for At-Risk Youth Project

  • Monday, August 28, and Tuesday, August 29
  • 8:00 am–5:00 pm

Stop by the VOA booth to assemble graduation bags and packets for at-risk youth. This prevention program is a 14-week program that educates these youths about the dangers of substance abuse, improves their communication with parents, and empowers them to make positive choices when faced with pressure from peers.

Program and Pre-Conference Workshops

AHMP’s 30th anniversary National Conference is the premiere event at which to hear insights from dynamic keynote speakers, gain valuable knowledge at technical sessions, learn from exhibitors about new products and services, and build your nationwide network of professional colleagues.

By attending one of the four 3-day Pre-Conference Workshops, you will gain critical knowledge needed to help prep you for the CHMM, CSP, ASP, or CDGP designation examination.
